My Time With The Girl Scouts

Today's Topic: Redraw An Old Drawing

Compare Scouts border.jpg

The drawing on the left was from about 3 or 4 years ago. I used watercolor, pencil and patterned paper. (I actually cut out the shapes of the skirt and hat from the patterned paper, glued them down and painted over them!) I went through a stage when I made my characters look like they were cut out. In fact, I made this girl into a series of different themed paper dolls that came in a greeting card that looked like a house.

The new version on the right is definitely cleaner and more polished. As I was looking for references, I realized there were many different Scout uniforms. So forgive me, I am no expert. Although, I was in Brownies as a kid. I had an incident with my leader and quit... although now that I think about it, I might have been kicked out. Either way, I still have fond feelings when I think of the Girls Scouts. They include: my mom's pantry full of cookie boxes, eating cookies, making new friends but keeping the old, and learning how to spell the word "California".

Random. I know.

How has it been for those of you who have joined in with the Challenge?

Are you finding it hard? Are you learning anything new? Thank you to those of you who have shared your drawings with me. I think you should be proud of yourselves. By the end of these 30 days, we will have honed our art skills, learned to be consistent no matter what, and we will feel a great sense of accomplishment!

Tomorrow's Draw
Topic: Draw the design for packaging for an item of your choice. (You don't have to make it up, it can be an existing product. Just redesign the packaging!)
